Vrisses is a typical traditional Cretan village, built in a fertile flat at the southern end of Apokoronas peninsula. Trees and running water are in abundance here.
Characteristic of the village is its main square, where tall plane trees create a pleasantly cool atmosphere, even in the hottest summer days - without the need of artificial air conditioning!
Outside the village, and just by the Chania - Rethymnon main road, there is an ancient Greco-Roman bridge, featuring restorations from both the Venetians and the Ottomans, which is well preserved.
Vrisses is famous for its ultra-delicious dairy produce, with local yoghurt and Greek cheese being the stars of the village’s products.
Vrisses is located 30 km southeastern of Chania city. The village is close to the Chania - Rethymnon main road and very easily accessible.
